    Creative Group Head

We are a highly entrepreneurial and opportunity focused company who want to be the most desired creative company on the African continent and beyond.

We believe that “the people with the best people win” and our Cape Town Agency is looking for a dynamic and experienced Creative Group Head to join our team and be part of this audacious vision.

You will be responsible for identifying and guiding bold creative ideas, copywriting, art direction, design and motion and storytelling across all channels for recognisable, blue-chip brands.

The ideal candidate will be able to ideate and execute brave, innovative work. We’re looking for a motivated individual capable of generating new ideas and then implementing them; someone who gets passionate about what technology can do for creativity and what creativity can do for the world.  We like hungry. We like strategic. We like kind. We like crazy. We like brutally simple, original thought. We like brand builders. We like insightfulness. We like diversity of thought. We like people who’re never satisfied with their list of awards already won; who remain obsessed with continually building their portfolios.

Extra skills, like the ability to draw, art direct, take photos, make movies, write strategies, illustrate, animate, edit, debate, be funny, multiple languages, other super powers, will aid your cause.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The idea. The sell. The execution.  (Be brilliant at all three. Inspire brilliance in all three from those you work with.)

Your number one job is to work with your Art Director / Copywriter to crack big, hairy, fresh ideas and then sell them hard and execute them perfectly. You’ll be expected to function well in a team, and bring a spirit of collaboration with you when you walk through the door every morning.

6 SPECIFIC THINGS YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    1. Concepts: You are ultimately responsible for the quality of thinking that you and the teams under you produce. This should be of a consistently high quality. You should be able to both develop and inspire great, fresh, impactful and integrated thinking. You need to seek out and encourage diverse thinking and ideas.
    2. Execution: You are the benchmark of quality and the standard for your discipline in the agency. Your Art Direction / Writing should be beyond question and be the envy of all below you. You should display an intolerance for the ordinary.
    3. Digital Platforms: A thorough understanding of digital platform formats and how to produce work for them.
    4. Selling and Presenting: You can present work with conviction to the most senior clients and organisational heads. You will be responsible for presenting your teams pitch work. You will need to be able to present work right from strategy to creative execution.
    5. Production: You will be responsible for the all production decisions: choice of suppliers and the quality of work you extract from them. You should feel confident having the final say on work before it goes to client and the media.
    6. People and Relationship Management: Probably the most important part of your job. Rallying all agency disciplines from Strat - AM - Production - Creative Teams - Traffic behind solving problems and creating great work. You are also solely responsible for the happiness, performance and motivation levels of the entire creative department. You are both manager and mentor - you need to facilitate and inspire great work. You need to have the excellent interpersonal skills and buy-in from all. Employ the right, diverse people for your team.

A FEW THINGS YOU MUST HAVE IN ORDER TO APPLY:

    1. A varied (and award-winning) portfolio book, which contains a mix of powerful, beautiful, real work that highlight both strong conceptual ability as well as a mastery of the craft of creating work. Please include your portfolio in your submission.

    3. A hunger for the industry and an interest to grow.
    4. An opinion on what the best work in the world is and why.

    Senior Writer (5+ Year's Experience)

    WHO WE ARE

Razor is the highly entrepreneurial public relations (PR) and reputation management company of the M&C Saatchi Group. Like the larger group, we believe that “the people with the best people win”, and we are rallying  to become Africa’s most desired creative company.

    WHAT WE DO

We have an audacious vision to build the PR agency of the future. Every day, the world feels more complex and confusing. Our goal is to create beautifully simple reputation solutions with exponential business impacts for our clients. All our work is premised on the belief that “words have power”. We believe the most powerful brands and reputations are built upon the most powerful words, conversations and stories.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a senior writer within our team, you are a huge part of crafting the powerful words and stories that take our clients forward.

    You’ll need to be:

    1. Conceptually strong: We need brave and bright ideas that answer the brief. You won’t always have the luxury of time and will need to be quick-thinking and on-point.
    2. A great writer: It sounds obvious, but you need to be able to tell powerful, convincing and inviting narratives, not just in a one-liner but in longer-form opinion editorials that would be worthy of SA’s premium news titles.
    3. Versatile enough to take on new topics: You’ll be thrust into creating content for businesses and sectors that may know very little about. You must be able to work through the jargon and deliver engaging work that gets us coverage in the media.
    4. Understand how the messages fits the medium: You should feel just as comfortable writing a 900-word opinion editorial as you do writing an infographic, a Facebook carousel, a video script, interview speaking points and position papers.
    5. Selling and presenting: You must be able to confidently present internally and externally to clients. This includes having meaningful conversations with them around the strategic direction of their brand,  the brand's tone of voice and opportunities for new work. Sometimes you’ll host a roundtable discussion to get points of view before coming up with content angles for the media.
    6. Execution: You must be able to produce excellent work, even when you have limited time. To meet a deadline, we often have to work quickly without compromising quality.
    7. People and relationships: You hold close and respected relationships across all departments and people genuinely enjoy working with you. You may need to work with, and get the best out of, junior teams and be open to culturally diverse ideas that don't match your world view.

    3 THINGS YOU MUST HAVE

    1. A varied portfolio book that contains real work and shows strong conceptual ability. Please include your portfolio in your submission
    2. A hunger for the industry and an interest to grow
    3. A proven track record in reputable advertising agencies and/or PR agencies.

While we look at every CV submitted to us in detail, given the sheer volume of applications we’re not able to respond to every applicant personally. Rest assured that if we like what we see, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.

    To apply email: jobs@razorpr.co.za

Alternatively, we’ll keep your details on record for future consideration.

If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks, your application has unfortunately been unsuccessful.
